Donald Trump's First 100 Day (AM Edition): "Top Dem presses Pence about security clearance for son-in-law" - MORE UPDATES

The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee is pushing Vice President-elect Mike Pence for more information about whether President-elect Donald Trump is seeking security clearance for his son-in-law.

A US President is accountable to the Congress and to the nation and may be impeached. But to whom will Trump's children and son-in-law be accountable--Trump? Is Trump trying to turn the United States into a family-run business? One might suspect Trump of having dynastic aspirations. Trump's opaqueness, his authoritarian tendencies, and this development should be setting off all kinds of alarms. What qualifies his children and his son-in-law to advice him on the selection of cabinet secretaries and other officials in his administration, national security policy, domestic policy, the day-to-day operation of the government, and the like? Here the primary issue from Trump's perspective appears to be one of personal loyalty--loyalty to Trump, not to the nation. Will Trump's children and son-in-law speak up or speak out if Trump entertains or makes a decision that would negatively affect the country, you and I? It is highly unlikely, considering Trump's personality and the family's dynamics. They may also encourage him to make unwise decisions.
