Church OK with concept of Mars aliens

[ninemsn] 3 June 2008--The existence of aliens is possible and the Christian faith would not be rocked if scientists discover life on Mars, Australian theologians say.

NASA's Pheonix Mars lander dug its first scoop of Martian soil today after touching down on the planet last week.

Scientists are hoping ice samples collected by the space probe will reveal the presence of organic compounds, indicating a potential for life.

But Christian denominations are not feeling threatened by the prospect of alien life on the red planet.

Any discovery of extra-terrestrial beings would not contradict God's existence because they would also be his creatures, Anglican theologian Andrew Cameron told ninemsn.
