[TheDay.com] April 20, 2005--In recent weeks, I have seen the media report that the “Connecticut Six” (Episcopal priests), who are under threat of inhibition and deposition by our Bishop Andrew Smith, are at odds with him over his approval of an openly gay bishop.
That is only a small part of the story. The ever-widening rift in the Episcopal Church USA (ECUSA) is not just about the gay-bishop issue. That was merely the straw that broke the camel's back. It is a symptom of two much larger, systemic problems.
